The new
EIS series, is a turn-key system
designed for a broad range of applications including Facility
Management, CAD, GIS and Reprographics, provides sophisticated
features while maintaining a user-friendly interface. The system
provides solutions for rapidly growing market needs in scanning,
copying, printing and emailing large-format documents and graphic
images. |
The EIS
series comprises of a choice of four 42” wide scanner models, a
36” wide, 6-color high-resolution, high-speed inkjet printer, a
high-performance controller and multifunctional software with
intuitive operation. All system components are fully integrated
for ease of use and flexibility addressing a variety of
applications in the document archiving, reproduction and file
communication tasks. The EIS system is available in three basic
configurations, the
EIS Ultima,
EIS Flex and
EIS Solo, each with a choice of
scanner models, to suit specific application needs. The EIS Ultima,
as an all-in-one configuration, provides the complete solution for
scanning, copying, printing and emailing of large-format documents
and graphics, while the EIS Flex offers the flexibility for
integrating with an existing printer (HP® DesignJet® 500, 800 and
others). Both Ultima and Flex systems feature space-saving single
footprint architecture, which ergonomically organizes all system
components, and offer a user-friendly, intuitive operation via
touch panel control. The EIS Solo provides the same functionality
as the Ultima and Flex systems in a standalone format, with the
system controller provided in a desktop configuration, and the
ability to use existing network printers for output. The EIS
system’s US list price ranges from $16,995 to $28,995, depending
on the system configurations. All EIS systems are covered by 1 to
3-year limited warranty (depending on the configurations and
components) and full 3-year on-site warranty is optionally
available.

The scanning
function of the EIS system incorporates proven, advanced contact
image sensor technology featuring a maximum scanning width of 42”
and true 600 dpi optical resolution with black &
white/grayscale/full-color capability. Pro models feature 4800
dpi interpolated resolution and a maximum scanning speed of 9 ”/sec
monochrome and 3”/sec color. Choices of scanner models include the
Graphtec CS500, CS500 Pro, CS600 and CS600 Pro, all capable of
scanning fine line drawings, detailed maps and fine art for clear
and high-precision image archiving and reproduction.

The Scanning
Arts software, preinstalled on the Rocket™ Controller, provides an
easy-to-use interface and intuitive operation while maintaining
the powerful and full-featured capabilities required for a broad
range of projects. The large control buttons on its main control
screen are designed to provide a feel and functionality similar to
that of an office copier and is fully compatible with the
touch-panel monitor included with the EIS Ultima and EIS Flex
systems. This system software performs a variety of functions
including scanning, printing, copying and email. In addition, the
Scanning Arts™ software incorporates accounting and job tracking
functions with password-protected log-in dialog for processing
sensitive documents and management of cost allocation per project.
Scanning Arts™ provides optimized default settings for a variety
of original document types including maps, drawings, blueprints,
photos and posters, thereby providing touch-of-a-button operation
for many projects involving large-format scanning and copying.
User-defined settings are also provided for advanced users,
allowing them to tailor the process to their specific preference.
When an email transmission of large images or documents is
performed, the G-Flash file management utility (included with all
EIS systems) provides practical assistance. The G-Flash utility
automatically divides a large document file into a number of
segments for more manageable transmission over the Internet. At
the recipient site of transmission, the G-Flash Receiver utility
automatically re-assembles these segmented files to restore the
original document.

The
high-performance Rocket™ controller houses a 2.8 GHz Pentium® 4
processor with 1GB DDR and 80 GB hard drive, and is custom
designed for delivering the resources required to seamlessly
manage large graphic files and other documents. The Rocket™
controller is pre-installed with Scanning Arts™ software, which
provides the user-friendly interface and the overall system
control. It is also integrated with a 15” LCD touch-panel monitor
(17” LCD for the EIS Solo) and a compact 101 keyboard, further
enhancing the ergonomics of the system operation.
A single-footprint system rack (provided with the EIS Ultima and
EIS Flex) integrates the scanner (positioned over the output
printer), Rocket controller, touch-panel LCD monitor and keyboard
in an ergonomically organized fashion, thereby streamlining system
operation and easily adapting to a limited floor space situation.
The Graphtec JW1000, as an integrated output device of the EIS
Ultima system provides 6-color, 36” wide, high-speed printing of
engineering/plan drawings, maps and graphics with a maximum
resolution of true 1200 dpi. The print heads incorporated in the
JW1000 feature a high-precision, high-density nozzle placement
technology with 1280 nozzles per color (or 7680 nozzles combined),
delivering a maximum print speed of 323 sq.ft./hr in draft mode
and 129 sq.ft./hr in standard mode. With its superb output quality
and print speed, the JW1000 enhances the overall productivity of
the EIS system. The EIS Flex and EIS Solo are made available for
those customers who prefer to integrate the system utilizing their
existing large-format printers/plotters, where the printer control
is performed either through the integrated driver or Windows®
driver (depending on the printer/plotter models).
